Eating out in Lisbon

You may want to wait until you get to Lisbon before eating. Dining out in Lisbon you will have quite a large choice due to the many popular places around this beautiful city.

The Bairro Alto area in an ancient quarter has many bars and clubs as well as a wide selection of Portuguese and other international restaurants. Lisbon Docklands (Docas) is a great place to go for walks along the dockside and viewing yachts, eating and drinking.

You may want to try some of the national dishes in Portugal such as "cozido à portuguesa" which is a thick meat stew with vegetables or even suckling pig called "leitão assado" form the north of the country. The most traditional of foods in Portugal is the sea food dishes which you will find on just about every menu around the country!

Don't forget that when out eating and drinking you are only allowed 0.05% alcohol limit in your blood before you can be fined for drink driving. It maybe best not to drive your hire car in Lisbon at all and catch the metro or a taxi.
