Metro in Lisbon

The metro is open everyday from 6.30am to 1am and connects to all the tourist areas and major train stations that travel out of Lisbon and all around Portugal. The Metro decor is something in itself to be seen!

At the metro stations you can purchase your tickets for travel at either the ticket office or from the Automatic ticket vending machines that operate 24 hours 7 days a week. Here you can purchase Urban tickets but the tickets for Alfa Pendular and Intercidades can be bought from the Automatic Vending Machine for Long-distancances with either credit or debit card.

If you find that the Automatic machines are out of use and there is no ticket office or it is temporerily closed, then you can purchase your ticket from the inspector on the train itself.

If you loose any belongings whilst on your journey, you must speak with an employee on the line that you was travelling or go to the Customer Assistance Office on that relevant line. Another option is to phone the call centre where they can assist you.
